Description
Barcelona is one of the world's most decorated and recognizable football clubs, founded in 1899. The Catalan club is renowned for its attacking, combination-based style of play and its youth academy, La Masia, which has produced generations of global football stars.
The *Blaugrana* hold the record for the most Spanish Cup titles and have won the UEFA Champions League five times. In the 2025/26 season, under the guidance of German manager Hans-Dieter Flick, the team confidently defended its league title; Barcelona amassed 94 points — one of the best tallies in the tournament's history — and secured the championship over Real Madrid with several rounds still to play. This marked the club's 29th La Liga title.
Flick has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2028 and was named the Spanish league's best coach for the second consecutive season. Following the departures of veterans Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo, the manager established a new captaincy hierarchy: Raphinha was named the primary captain and Pedri the vice-captain, while the team's leadership group includes Eric García, Frenkie de Jong, and the club's young star, Lamine Yamal.
Yamal remains the face of Barcelona's new generation — one of Europe's most technically gifted and productive young players and a key figure in the Catalan attack. For the 2026/27 season, the team aims to compete for trophies on all fronts, including the Cup and the Champions League, with the Spanish Super Cup in Istanbul offering Barcelona its first chance to open its trophy account for the season.
