Spanish Super Cup poster

Fans have long wondered where the 2027 Spanish Super Cup would be held. The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced that, for the first time in its history, the tournament will take place outside both Spain and Saudi Arabia — specifically in Istanbul at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium. This decision stems from the fact that the Asian Cup is scheduled for February 2027 in Saudi Arabia (where the Super Cup has been held in recent seasons); the Super Cup is set to return there in 2028.

Four teams will compete in the "Final Four" format: the 2025/26 La Liga champion and runner-up (Barcelona and Real Madrid), as well as the Copa del Rey winner and finalist (Real Sociedad and Atlético Madrid).

Spanish Super Cup Semifinals: Matchups

The semifinal matchups have been determined: Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad, while Atlético will play Barcelona. The winners of these ties will advance to the Spanish Super Cup final, which will conclude the tournament in Istanbul. Notably, Atlético and Barcelona have already met this season in the Copa del Rey semifinals and the Champions League quarterfinals; their head-to-head record will now see the addition of another high-stakes clash.
